Brunette, the widest palette in the house
Every atelier keeps a bolt of brown wool it returns to season after season. It is the colour that makes other colours possible. Brunette plays the same role here: fifteen women, the largest edit by some distance, and the one with the broadest range of shade and temperament.
The palette runs from sun-lightened light brown to a brown so deep it reads as black under evening light. Within it you will find the most seasoned member of the house, the tallest brunette, a devoted cook of Italian food and a woman who can name the stars above the Jordaan.

Light and sun-lightened
Vanessa wears a sandy balayage with hazel eyes, a slim 173 cm silhouette and understated coastal chic, white cotton under a navy knit. Laura, in De Pijp, wears light brown hair lightened by sun, with green eyes and an athletic energy that softens completely at a candlelit table. Chestnut and chocolate
Liana and Jasmin both wear straight chestnut hair and live in Amsterdam Centrum, yet they could hardly differ more once the evening begins. Liana is gentle and intuitive, and her taste for French novels suits a slow dinner. Jasmin is bubbly and curious, happiest where there is a cocktail list and some music. Dark brown to near-black

Why brown suits monochrome
Dark hair frames a face against black without competing with it, which is why so many of these women build a wardrobe around one dark dress and one bright detail. A pearl drop, a silver collar, a red lip. The lighter shades take camel, cream and navy with the same ease. Few edits move so comfortably between a museum preview in the afternoon and a hotel bar long after dark.
Choosing within a large edit
With fifteen women, begin with the occasion rather than the shade. A formal evening points towards Samanta, Margo or Sonya, while a playful night leans towards Jasmin, Molly or Stacy.
